Technique is looking for a Prototype Stamping Technician to join our team at our Jackson, Michigan facility. This role involves developing a progressive skillset for the production of parts from start to finish, using deep draw stamping fundamentals – including setting up dies in presses, operating presses, and performing process inspections. The ideal candidate will grow their capabilities across the full stamping workflow in a fast-paced, precision manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate has a general manufacturing background and ideally two to four years of experience with stamping equipment and metal forming. They understand friction, gap control, and draw fundamentals, and are comfortable working with AutoCAD and controls software. Vocational training – whether through a STEM program, career center, or technical trades program – is a strong asset.

Responsibilities:
- Execute multistep draws – Use multistep draws, comprehend preforms, size them appropriately, and adjust drawing processes to alleviate cracks and thinning.
- Apply friction and drawing fundamentals – Understand how friction affects the drawing of parts, manage pressure, and utilize cushion pins appropriately.
- Maintain gap control – Apply and maintain an understanding of gap control in stamping operations.
- Design tooling in AutoCAD – Set up swipes, tweak parts, draw nests, guide plates, and binder plates in AutoCAD.
- Complete GD&T layouts and controls documentation – Understand and complete GD&T layouts, write programs, and save runsheets in controls.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED, or enrollment in a manufacturing-based education program
- Vocational training preferred (STEM Program, Career Center, or Technical Trades Training)
- First aid training required
- General manufacturing experience required; two to four years of stamping equipment and metal forming experience preferred
- Ability to work with AutoCAD and controls software
- Understanding of GD&T and deep draw stamping fundamentals
- Very active position requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the full shift; must be able to frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Must be authorized to work in the United States

- 1st Shift – Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- 2nd Shift – Monday through Thursday, 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM ($1.00 shift premium per hour)
- Weekend Days – Friday through Sunday or Saturday through Monday, 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM ($2.00 shift premium per hour)
- Weekend Nights – Friday through Sunday, 5:00 PM to 5:30 AM ($15.00 shift premium per hour)
