Robotic Welding Technician

Technique, Inc. is looking for a Robotic Welding Technician to join our team at our Jackson, Michigan facility. This position will use MIG/TIG welding equipment in accordance with job and customer demand, welding both stainless and carbon steel. The welder will support the quality assurance team with part layouts and inspections, requiring a basic knowledge of GD&T and print reading. They will also assist in the design, development, and implementation of production fixturing, and operate and recover welding robots for all phases of production.

The ideal candidate holds a High School Diploma or GED with vocational training from a STEM Program, Career Center, or Technical Trades Training, and brings 2 years of welding experience in an industrial setting. The ability to set up and weld basic GTAW and GMAW mild steel joints, read and apply weld symbols, and set up and troubleshoot projection welders are critical factors in this role.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Set up and weld – Set up the welder and weld basic GTAW and GMAW mild steel joints.
  • Read and apply weld symbols – Read and apply basic weld symbols to ensure proper weld placement and quality.
  • Distinguish material types – Distinguish different material types for proper handling and welding procedures.
  • Manage weld fixtures – Understand weld fixture locations and return process.
  • Change over wire and gas – Change over wire and gas for regular operations.
  • Set up and troubleshoot projection welder – Set up and troubleshoot projection welder and change settings accordingly.
  • Pass basic blueprint reading test – Demonstrate basic blueprint reading ability.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Vocational training (STEM Program, Career Center, or Technical Trades Training)
  • 2 years of welding experience in an industrial setting
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the shift
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
