Technique, Inc. is a Michigan-based stamping, tubing and welding facility offering the shortest lead-times and highest quality parts in the industry. Position Summary:
The Director of Quality position is a high-ranking and highly visible position within the organization which requires a close relationship with our customer base to ensure quality in all products which enable strong product reputation and reliability. This position is responsible for ensuring the quality of all of Technique’s products.
This position is responsible for the development, implementation and management of a world-class quality management system. This position will also perform quality inspections with sophisticated QC equipment and software, and problem solve to resolve quality issues in process.
Essential Job Functions:
EDUCATION: B.A. in Engineering, Quality Control, or related field preferred
CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE: None
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 10 years of related experience, Member of ASQ and Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (MOQ/OE) preferred
Position Requirements (Skills & Abilities):
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of the area and overnight travel should be expected when engagement with customers at customer locations is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Environmental Expectations
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to manufacturing processes that include and are not limited to; fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, industrial equipment and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service. Act as the lead organizational contact for all customer concerns. Investigate customer issues and complaints relating to quality. Perform RCCA by a variety of methods.
- Coordinate customer source inspections and make recommendations based on inspections to remove root causes of non-conformance.
- Performs and/or assists with the review and evaluation of inspection holding fixtures, component parts, and assembly inspection fixtures to determine if fixture is adequate for task.
- Inspect product prior to shipment using calipers, micrometers, height gages, and laser scanning.
- Oversee PPAP and First Article submission requirements.
- Oversees quality training
- Professionally represents the company when interacting with customer representatives
- Inventory tracking for outsourced goods and components as needed.
- Perform capability studies, gauge R&R, SPC, flow charts, and histograms.
- Process laser scans with Polyworks software and create programs for new inspections.
- Manage all controlled documents pertaining to quality submissions.
- Work with manufacturing teams to adjust fixtures and processes when needed to improve part quality.
- Coach quality team members to ensure strong performance and positive morale within the quality department.
- Train employees in all aspects of QSM, quality control, RCCA, inspection, and fixturing methodology.

Position Requirements (Skills & Abilities):
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and strong blueprint reading capabilities
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, tools, concepts, and methodologies of QA and implementation of corrective action plans
- Knowledge of ISO-9001, ISO-14001, and IATF 16949
- Knowledge of PSW, Dimensional Reports, Material Performance Test Results, MSA, AAR, SDS, IMDS, and CDX, and various Customer Approval processes.
- Knowledge of Sample product and master retention protocol
- Knowledge of qualified laboratory documentation and scopes (A2LA, ISO-17025)
- Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office- ERP system exposure an asset
- QMS internal auditor training desired
- Knowledge of metal stamping and assembly processes preferred
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
